Day Trip Ideas

Slovenia may be small in size, but it’s packed with diverse landscapes, charming towns, and unforgettable sights—all within easy reach from Bled. Here are a few day trip options:

The Surroundings of Kranjska Gora

Start your day with a drive to Planica, where you can see the ski jumps and take a short walk to the Tamar Valley. Continue to Zelenci Springs, a small but scenic water spring off Sava river. Stop for lunch in Kranjska Gora, then walk around Lake Jasna or visit Peričnik Waterfall on your way back. If you have time, you can also include Vintgar Gorge as a final stop.

Bovec and the Soča Valley

Take the scenic route through Vršič Pass—a mountain road offering stunning views—into the Soča Valley, known for its rugged beauty and outdoor activities.

Here are a few specific activities to consider:

  • Rafting or Kayaking: The Soča River is famous for its crystal-clear water, making it ideal for rafting or kayaking.
  • Hiking: There are many hiking options. You can also hike to Boka waterfall, one of Slovenia’s largest waterfalls, located near Bovec.
  • Ziplining: For something a bit different, try ziplining over the Soča River for incredible views of the valley.

On the return journey, save time and energy by taking the motorail train from Most na Soči to Bohinjska Bistrica—a unique way to travel through Slovenia’s scenic countryside.
